International day of the book is a yearly event on 23rd April organized by UNESCO to promote reading.The day was first celebrated in 1995. The connection between 23rd April and books was first made in Spain as a way to honor the famous writer Miguel de Cervantes, the author of “Quijote”, who died on that day .In 1995 Unesco decided that the World Book would be celebrated on this date because this date is also the anniversary of the birth and the death of Shakespeare, Cervantes and Garcilaso de la Vega.So that every April 23rd children from schools celebrate that day doing many special activities related to the book and reading. This year in our school we are going to have special sessions of reading, where we will read classical tales, legends and mythological stories. Besides, we will make scoreboards for books and it’s also going to come a storytelling, who will tell us many interesting stories.
